Not all sprinkler systems are created equal. That’s why at Palmer Logistics we ensure that our warehouses are equipped with the type of sprinkler system designed specifically for the commodity stored there. We also make sure the placement of our sprinkler systems is in accordance with the commodity classifications. Some commodities require in-rack sprinklers so water can be applied to a fire before it spreads; others require the use of both in-rack and ceiling mounted sprinkler systems.

Commodity Classification

Commodity classification is important for selecting the correct sprinkler system for fire protection. The type of commodity, its packaging, and the manner in which it is stored (i.e., container vs. pallet) are all factors considered when determining the commodity classification. Various warehouse features, such as roof height, also come into play when selecting the proper sprinkler system.
